Ultimate Guide to Best Women’s Golf Apparel

Golf apparel for women needs to be both fashionable, and functional. And there are certain pieces you just can’t be without. So here is the complete guide from birdies and bows to the best women’s golf apparel.

Shoes

Though you don’t need to have golf shoes when you first pick up the game of golf, you always need to be wearing tennis shoes of some kind.

You cannot wear a flip flop or heel of any kind while out on the course.

Eventually, though, you will want to invest in a pair of good golf shoes. This is because-

  • They are the traditional style of dress
  • They make the least amount of damage on the green
  • They give you the most stability when you swing

Socks

The type of socks you wear will depend on the type of bottoms you wear.

  • With shorts, skorts, or skirts- low (or no-show) socks are your best option.
  • With pants- crew socks in colors that match the pants will be your go-to.

Remember to look for a sock with moisture-wicking technology to help keep you comfortable.

Hats

Hats are always a must. Many women like to wear visors, but there are other options on the market as well.

Something to keep in mind when shopping for a hat is the length of your hair. If you have a ponytail, make sure that you’re buying a cap or visor that can accommodate that.

You can find hats and visors in a variety of colors and prints, making it easy to find one that suits your look.

Skirts/Skorts/pants

The number one rule- be mindful of the length. Many golf clubs have an expectation of knee-length pants, skirts, and skorts for everyone. Some clubs won’t even let you wear shorts at all! It’s always a good idea to call ahead and ask.

A good skirt or skort will have-

  • Breathable Moisture Wicking Material
  • The proper length
  • A zippered back pocket

Outer layers

You can never go wrong dressing in layers when you are getting ready to play. This is especially if you have a morning tee time, or if it’s been a particularly windy/chilly last few days.

Lightweight jackets or sweaters are going to be your best choice for several reasons.

  1. They will not be restricting your swing in any way.
  2. They won’t take up too much space in your golf bag.
  3. They are stylish and appropriate for the course.

Tops

Women have lots of options when it comes to tops. Where men must wear a collared shirt, women have the option to wear no collar as long as the shirt has sleeves. Although most women do wear a collared shirt, it’s completely up to you.

Some non-traditional top options may include:

  • a ¼ zip-top
  • a half zip-top
  • button-downs

Remember, if you’re new to golfing, first invest in a couple of staple items such as golf pants, and golf shirts to get you going – and complete your women’s golf attire wardrobe from there. Happy golfing!
